Song composition workshop

The art of song composition encompasses multiple facets of creativity, requiring the musical world to engage in dialogue with poetry. Furthermore, musicians are required to develop their creative skills and the necessary habits for creation to have its space-time.

This workshop is offered as a space for collective research on song composition. Participants will be guided through a series of composition exercises and collectively observe, discuss, and appreciate the new creations, as well as share the experiences behind their process.

In this workshop songwriting is explored through a trans-cultural perspective meaning that we will focus on the diversity of songs in the different cultures.

This workshop has been offered for two consecutive years (2024-25) at the University of Arts, Sibelius Academy, within the Global Music department.
